After her first album, Swiss flutist Linda Jozefowski is excited to present her new project with amazing musicians at her side. The new album Focus Natural combines modern jazz compositions and African-inspired grooves. Some tracks are also reminiscent of the hard bop sound of the 1960s. As a concept, Focus Natural describes a kind of philosophy or state of mind in which concentration and spontaneity, focus and creativity flow in a completely natural way. Hypnotic melodies, transcendental bass lines and intricate patterns are skilfully woven into organic, earthy grooves. An invitation to dance. The album has been recorded under special conditions at La Maison-Matrice in Crémines (Swiss Jura), with Swiss pianist Malcolm Braff on Fender Rhodes, Deutsche Jazzpreis winner drummer Diego Pinera from Uruguay/Berlin, French double bass player Marion Ruault and Domenic Landolf on saxophone and bass clarinet.

REVIEWS
The new album of the Swiss flutist Linda Jozefowski impresses with cleverly thought-out compositions and interestingly exposed melodies for flute and saxophone, respectively bass clarinet. Linda Jozefowski has presented a very mature album with “Focus Natural”, which skillfully bundles her musical preferences from jazz to world music. Angela Ballhorn, Jazz’n’More, July 2023
The album Focus Natural has a highly original physiognomy, in terms of rhythmic complexity and sonic blend, but above all it possesses a joyful and warm sound, an expressive freshness that one rarely gets to hear. Is a very interesting album, with echoes of 1960s hard bop, African rhythms, hypnotic and rhythmically complex flute pieces, in short a variety of styles that are, however, held together by the presence and personality of the leader, whose sound is really mature and assertive. Alessandro Zanoli, Azione, April 2023
The Swiss Linda Jozefowski also showed that it is possible to be musical and exciting at the same time. Intricate rhythms and the clever melodies come together seemingly effortlessly with her band. With her virtuosistic, clear playing, Linda Jozefowski gives the music flow and virtuosity. Complemented by the excellent saxophonist Domenic Landolf it is a convincing sound. An attractive border crossing between the different continents. Roman Kühne, Luzerner Zeitung, September 2023
“Doing Nothing” is what flutist Linda Jozefowski has called the opening song of her new album, but there’s a lot going on in the piece: bassist Marion Ruault and drummer Diego Piñera lay down a nervous beat, Malcolm Braff on Fender Rhodes provides a sound thicket in the background, and in the foreground Jozefowski and saxophonist and clarinetist Domenic Landolf complement each other with abbreviated motifs and gruff solos – early Weather Report send their regards. And the seven compositions that follow offer plenty of variety as well: constant rhythmic shifts make “Tana” a tour de force, with Braff finding plenty of time to maltreat his instrument before Jozefowski thematically recaptures him. Bouncing African rhythms fuel “11 AM In Foreign Times,” the longest track on the album at over nine minutes. “Focus Natural” is a sensual journey of sound. Rolph Thomas, Jazz Thing, 2.3.2023
